Free Right Angle Weave Seed Bead Patterns (4/16/2014)
I love Right Angle Weave (RAW), along with Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW) and Tubular Right Angle Weave (TRAW). When doing most Right Angle Weave projects, I prefer using one-needle, but sometimes it is faster and you get a better result using two-needles. RAW is great as a foundation for building on and embellishing as you have plenty of room to go through those beads again and again. Try some of these great Right Angle Weave projects today:

Really, bracelet making using right-angle weave is probably my go-to technique because I just love the possibilities. A simple band of right-angle weave becomes something spectacular when you change up your bead choices, throw in a handful of crystals, or try out a new type of shaped glass bead.

I decided to make my own matching bracelet. And hopefully with this Instructable, you will want to make one too, for yourself or maybe your own Tiny Hands. The right-angle weave (or RAW) technique is relatively simple and the pattern is easy once you get going. Follow along and you’ll see what I mean.

This right angle weave bracelet is just still based on the basic right angle weave stitches I ever mentioned in previous beading projects. Of course, it is a bit time-consuming, as it has three beaded columns as seen by all of you. It truly deserves a go. Later the details of how to make a right angle weave bracelet will be shown.

Cubic right-angle weave differs from tubular right-angle weave in that it is a solid piece of beadwork with little “walls” between each unit. Tubular right-angle weave is just that — a hollow piece of right-angle weave that you can wrap around a cord or other armature to give it structure. Cubic right-angle weave doesn’t need an armature to give it a sound structure.

Lately, I have been really fond of using Twin Beads. I spend hours experimenting and trying on different techniques to come up with a new beaded jewelry design. A technique that I find easy to follow and can be the starting point to several variations is the Right Angle Weave. Today, it’s beading basics on how to do Right Angle Weave Beading with Twin Beads.

Just the other day I was teaching a bracelet class where the students had to make a second row of right angle weave. The first row was fine and fast…everyone “got” it. But that naughty second row just causes some people to want to scream. I do understand the reason…. In RAW it takes two rounds to finish one complete stitch. That figure 8 with the change in direction just trips people up.
This beading cartoon shows three ways of one needle Right Angle Weaving with increasing and decreasing rows.
