Today, I’m providing some bead stringing inspiration. Sometimes, we just run out of fresh ideas. You’ve been looking at your same old beads and just aren’t inspired to be creative. Take a look at these wonderful ideas, and maybe you will see new ways to use your old materials.

Have I mentioned how much I love Downton Abbey? True, I think half the reason I watch it is just for the period clothing and jewelry, but each episode feels like a treasure trove of jewelry-making ideas and inspiration. I make pieces for my finished jewelry line or for a magazine and I see what people are interested in learning about then I go back and think “how can I turn this into a project?” So my kits are really designed to take the frustration out of learning to design so that people can focus on picking their colors, and learning the technique, and just having fun with beads.

Reader Susan sent this photo of her 3-4mm round white pearls (probably akoyas), a still-lustrous 18-inch strand, sentimental to her but too small as is for a grown woman. She asked if I had ideas for updating it, and wondered if they “were worth it”. I’d say yes!

Every once in a while, I like to sit down with a spool of stringing wire and a drawer full of beads and just work on bead stringing projects.
