I’ve been meaning to put my collection of Miyuki seeds beads to good use. They’ve always been one of those things that I can’t restrain myself from hoarding every time I step inside a bead store. The perfectly uniform, cylindrical beads come in nearly every shade of color imaginable and their itty bitty size make them that much more appealing. I’ve got a thing for anything miniature. I recently made a handful of mini seed bead bracelets, each encoded with secret little messages.

Do you dig the vintage look? I’m not talking about bell-bottoms and polyester suits here. I’m talking about gorgeous lace jewelry that you can wear with almost anything. Don’t be intimidated by the intricacy of lace jewelry. Lace designs range from basic weaving stitches to more advanced stitches like netting stitch, so you can make it no matter what your level of beading experience.

It’s no secret that I love working with metal, and trying different effects. Today I tried my hand at using alcohol ink to color my metal blank for this bracelet. I have some other ways I’d like to try it, but for a first try, I’m really encouraged and I’d like to play with the technique a bit more! For today’s project, I used a plain rectangular aluminum blank, texturized it with my Sizzix machine, and added color with ink. It sure does add a lot of personality to what began as a plain blank!
Cube Bracelet Pattern Facelift

Was playing with the gorgeous Toho hybrid 4mm cube beads this summer and discovered that because the Toho cube holes are so much bigger than the Miyuki cube bead holes, they just swallow up the size 11 seed beads in my Cube Bracelet pattern. So… I used size 8 seed beads and 6mm instead of 4mm fire-polished beads and the result was a heavier, more substantial band so I added the variation to my pattern.

This is my variation of the Daisy Chain stitch. It is not an original pattern, but it is my version of the pattern. If you do a web search for Daisy Chain you will find many different versions of the same stitch. The pattern can be used several ways, by adding a variety of beads; you can get a different look. You can make bracelets or necklaces. Or as you can see in my sample, I have made an eyeglass holder.
