What is more fun than making beaded beads? They are quick and you can fit one into your schedule easily. Keep at it and, eventually, you could have a whole collection of beaded beads and put them together into one necklace or bracelet. Two identical beaded beads make a pair of earrings. I have been asked to make a tutorial on how I make my beaded beads. I’ve been making lots of them lately as you can see in the picture below. I will tell you more about them, and my sort-of-process in the video. This is the particular bead I will show you how to make in my tutorial. In fact it is the one furthest to the left which is the one I am making in the video.

I have been experimenting with cross weaving which is sometimes referred to as two needle right angle weave. It definitely uses a different set of “head muscles” than single needle RAW, but it’s not that difficult to learn. Below are some examples of beads that I discovered by accident while trying to do something else. My beads are not new discoveries; I have since found other examples of them on the Internet.

You may remember me saying we have a new birthday tradition among my friends and that is for each of us to make a beaded bead for a necklace for the birthday girl. So far I’ve made an Amphora from Beaded Opulence for Susan and am working on a large Bellisimo for Gail’s upcoming birthday. The girls, while enthusiastic and multi talented are just beginning their bead journeys so I kept their beads simple by beading a base of raw, which then they layer and embellish, like the beaded beads in Beads in Motion.

As I promised yesterday, I have prepared a quick tutorial how to make a beaded bead. Now you will see that despite looking complicated, it is very easy to make. The finished piece measures around 2,5 cm (1″). You can use the finished piece as a beaded core bead, but you can also use it as a pendant.
